This is the 9th edition of the Stav Church Christmas Ornaments and features the Fortun Stav Church in Sogn, Norway. It was built in 1201.
This church is also known as the Fantoft Stav Church, since in 1885 a wealthy ship owner purchased the church and moved it to Fana, outside the city of Bergen, saving it from demolition. The church sat there until 1992, when it was consumed in a fire started by an arsonist. Reconstruction began almost immediately after and took six years to complete. The speed of the reconstruction is due in large part to the drawings of L.P. L'Orange, who detailed the building during its move.
Each Limited Edition Ornament is made on a 2.5" flat porcelain disk and hand decorated in delicate Scandinavian Blue and White.
