This is the 11th edition of the Stav Church Christmas Ornaments and features the Lom Stav Church in Gudbrandsal, Norway. Like other churches, it was built sometime in the 1100s. According to historians, Saint Olav, the current king of Norway, ordained the first priest of Lom. The real church of Lom was a small temple built before the spread of Christianity, and when the time came to renovate, the current church was built on the foundations of the original temple.
The Lom church has grown over the centuries, but it has always served as the spiritual and cultural center for the community. As such, it has inspired many great works of art. In 1928, the Norwegian vespers "Te Deum Laudamus" was performed here for the first time.
