This is the 12th edition of the Stav Church Christmas Ornaments. It features the Roldal Stav Church in Nordmore, Norway. It was erected around 1250.
The church is located at the remote end of Lake Roldalsvatnet. It was originally a simple Stav church, but was renovated and restored several times throughout the centuries. Perhaps this is because it contains a crucifix rumored to have miraculous healing powers. Pilgrims would journey to the crucifix to be healed until 1835, when the church condemned the practice. However, the crucifix is still in the church, and is still on display.
Each Limited Edition Ornament is made on a 2.5" flat porcelain disk and hand decorated in delicate Scandinavian Blue and White.
