The 21st edition of the Stav Church Christmas ornament features the Torpo church, the oldest structure in Hallingdal, Norway. The church was built in 1148 A.D., probably on the site of a previous structure that the architects incorporated into the church. It has a distinctive tower-like silhouette, and the interior features a distinctive ceiling mural depicting the Martyrdom of St. Margaret of Antioc, which was painted in the late 1200s. Today the Torpo church serves as a museum under the care of the Society for the Preservation of Ancient Norwegian Monuments.
Each limited edition ornament is crafted from a 2.5" flat porcelain disk and hand decorated in delicate Scandinavian blues and whites.
