Iva's Spritz Cookies
Spritz are bite-size buttery cookies with hints of vanilla and almond. These classic cookies are made with a cookie press. Thanks to precision engineering our Spritz Cookie Press can make two different size cookies and the cookies hold their shape. These are some of the most fun Scandinavian Cookies to make with kids since they can enjoy decorating the cookies with various colors and shapes of sugar.

Recipe:
1/2C Butter, softened
1/4C Vegetable Oil
3/4C Sugar
1 Large Egg
2Tsp Vanilla
2C Flour
1/4Tsp Baking Powder
1/4Tsp Salt

Directions:
• Mix together the Butter and Vegetable Oil thoroughly
• Add Sugar gradually and continue mixing till fluffy
• Mix in the Egg and Vanilla until thoroughly mixed
• In a separate bowl combine together the Flour, Baking Powder and Salt
• Gradually mix in the Flour Mixture into the other ingrediants in small amounts until fully mixed and the dough will be firm
• Load into your Spritz Gun and press cookies onto a cookie sheet
• Bake in a 375° oven for 10-12 minutes until the edges are light golden color. Be careful not to over bake

History:
It is hard to find out much about Spritz Cookies in Scandinavia. However some of the first recipes started showing up in the early 1900’s thanks to the industrial revolution. Unlike other Scandinavian cookies they are “Spritz” or pressed through a die onto a cookie sheet. They are an update on a Sugar Cookie, but by using the press you could make interesting shapes that would hold their shapes as they baked. One of the earliest mentions of Spritz Cookies is from an ad for a Danish Bakery Shop in Copenhagen. Wherever they originated they are one of Scandinavia’s most recognized cookies.
