Dale of Norway has had a long and storied history with the Olympics, the Norwegian Ski Team and the World Cup.  However all stories have a "Beginning".  This starts in 1956 with the Cortina Olympics.  Previous to this time various individual Ski Clubs in Norway would send participants in the Olympics for Norway.  Teams from the West Coast Bergen area generally had sweaters designed for them by Dale to designate each Team.  There was No Official Olympic Norwegian Team Sweater.  That all changed in 1956 when Norway formed a national Olympic Committee that unified all the participants in the Olympic Games.  

To Celebrate the fact that it was finally One Norwegian Olympic Team representing all of Norway the athletes themselves decided to select Dale to design and provide their Sweaters.  The Cortina Sweater is the "Very First Olympic Team Sweater" to be Officially worn by a team in the Winter Olympic Games.  

From that day forward Dale of Norway has been the Official Olympic Sweater provider to all the Norwegian Olympic Teams.  No other company has such a tradition and it is why Dale has also been the Official Olympic Provider for several of the Winter Olympics as well as for the Norwegian Olympic Team. 

To honor and celebrate that First Olympic Team Sweater that was worn at the Cortina Olympics in 1956 Dale has created a special Cortina Celebration Collection for this year.  The Collection gives us the chance to experience this historic sweater in its original version as well as in several lighter weight comfort Merinos.
