The Nordic Shop in Rochester, MN to be the North American Launch Site of the Special Edition Ingrid Lofoten Sweater!

We at The Nordic Shop are excited to be selected for the North American Release of the SPECIAL Limited Edition Sweater by Norwegian designer and photographer Ingrid Raadim Hennig in Collaboration with Dale of Norway.  We will launch it on November 1st at a special Launch Party at The Nordic Shop and as a Facebook Live Event.

Here is the story of this Special Sweater that we wrote for the Norwegian American Newspaper.  It explains the history and story behind the design concept.  We were lucky enough to have been able to get this story from Dale and from Ingrid for our customers.

"Dale of Norway continues their collaboration with Ingrid Raadim Hennig this Fall. Ingrid is a Norwegian influencer, photographer, and designer who lives in the Lofoten Islands, a remote archipelago in northern Norway. It is famous for its rugged landscapes and natural beauty. Ingrid is known for her interest in the outdoors, her scenic pictures, and her countless knit sweaters. Last Spring Ingrid collaborated on a Limited Edition Leap Year Sweater that sold out in a matter of hours. This new Fall Limited Edition follows up on the design and pattern, inspired by the 80s and 90s featured in the Spring Sweater. The Fall Limited Edition Sweater takes its color cues from the Winter Colors of the Sky and the play of the Winter Sun on the landscape in the Lofoten Islands.

The Fall Ingrid sweater embodies an adventurous attitude, creating a physical feeling of happy memories and representing Ingrid’s love for colors, patterns, and life in Lofoten. The greatest inspiration for the pattern of this Fall’s Ingrid sweater is the many vintage sweaters Ingrid has collected over the past several years.

For this Fall’s Sweater Ingrid wanted to recreate the retro feeling of her beloved vintage sweaters along with the bright colors and large patterns that she felt matched the Lofoten landscape. She wanted to create a sweater that you usually have to search forever to find that has that special vibe.

In working through the design process, Ingrid and Dale of Norway’s design team worked closely with several motifs and patterns from Dale’s archive, including the distinctive eight-pedal Norwegian Rose and selected elements from many of Dale of Norway's classic sweaters. These combined into something entirely new, representing Dale of Norway and Ingrid’s view of the Lofoten Islands.

When we talked with the Senior designer at Dale of Norway, Linn Marie Partee, she shared that it was particularly fun to start from scratch with a new pattern and inspiration from outside of Dale,

“Moreover, it was incredibly fun to work with someone who loves colors as much as I do. The collaboration led us to push the design even further than we usually do, with freer reins to play and use different color combinations and patterns.”

This love for colors also posed some challenges for the design team, who were inspired by several themes throughout the process. The result is a new and playful design that reflects the rich Fall colors often found in nature in the Lofoten Islands. It also reflects Ingrid’s love of the designs from the 80s and 90s with bolder design elements.

Ingrid commented at the end of the process; “Since I was a child, I’ve always liked colors, patterns, and things that sparkle. Naturally, geography and climate influence my style, so when I’m in Lofoten, it’s almost just colors and comfy knit sweaters, while in Oslo, the knit sweaters are often swapped with glitter and sequins, also in colors, of course. It’s a contrast I love.”

The design and colors blend perfectly, representing both Ingrid and Dale of Norway It echos Ingrid’s stunning pictures of Lofoten’s turquoise sea, striking white mountains and spectacular sunsets. With a loose fit and dropped shoulder design, the Ingrid sweater is light, comfortable, and versatile. It is knit at the Dale of Norway’s factory in the small town of Dale outside of Bergen in the high coastal mountains of Western Norway.

Sizing for the Ingrid Fall Sweater is in Women’s sizes from Extra Small through Extra Large. The fit is a more relaxed style and it is not intended to be a fitted sweater.  Ingrid wanted it to be a cozy sweater that one could curl up with by the fireplace and enjoy a cup of tea watching the snow come down on a winter’s eve.

Do to the nature of this joint project Dale has limited production of this Special Limited Edition Sweater.Like the Leap Year Sweater released on Leap Day it will sell out quickly. The official Launch and Shipping Date is November 1st.It will only be available through a small number of retailers worldwide. In the US market The Nordic Shop in Rochester, MN will be the featured Launch Site.TheNordicShop.net"

We hope that you will be lucky enough to get one of the 300 Ingrid Lofoten Sweaters that are available.
